1. Disassembling . To disassemble or not to disassemble, that is the question. Typically movers do take apart and put together all furniture, you can save some money by doing it yourself. If you take apart your own beds and other large furniture, you can save as much as an hour from your moving costs.

2. Location, Location . Location is everything! So, if you are looking to save some money on moving day, you should take into consideration the location of your items. By moving all of your boxes and small furniture into the front rooms of your house or into your garage, you can save some precious time.

3. Sweating the Small Stuff . A lot of times there are small items and boxes which will need to be moved. One way to save some money is to move all of these pieces in advance, or by yourself on moving day. By doing this, it leaves the movers to move just the large furniture. It may be more time consuming for you, but it will save time, and therefore money on moving day.

4. Pack, Pack, Pack it up . When moving, a lot of people don.t realize how long it takes to pack your own items. By not leaving themselves enough time before moving day, often the movers are left to pack some items, or sit around and wait for the customer to pack the last of their knick .knacks. Planning enough time into your schedule to get all of your packing done will save you some money on the other end.

5. Settlement . Most of the time people try to get back to back settlements for their house. Before you solidify your settlement times with your realtor, you may want to check in with your mover. By adjusting your settlement times an hour one way or another, you may be able to save yourself a significant amount of money.
