– Plants . Many people love their plants because they bring life to their house. You don.t want to leave them behind, but how are you supposed to pack them on the moving truck? The answer is somewhat simple; you.re not supposed to put it on the truck. Remember, plants are living things. You can.t just stick them in a box and hope for the best. If your plant is large, or is a tree, we can move those, but the smaller plants are too fragile to make it without some extra care. We suggest you move them in a car on moving day. That way you can put them in the new house where they will have sunlight and can be watered the next morning. If you have too many plants to move in your car, ask a friend or neighbor if you can store them at their house for a few days, and make several trips back and forth.
- Refrigerator . Even if you are not moving the actual appliance, you probably have some things in the fridge which you want to bring along with you. We suggest you pack up the contents of your refrigerator into a cooler for easy transport into your new house. You will be able to spot the cooler quickly and unpack that first. If we are moving your refrigerator, you still need to pack the contents; otherwise everything will shift and make a mess.
- Lamps . Possibly the most awkward thing to pack is a lamp. They are often cumbersome and are very fragile. The lamp shades are also very fragile. We recommend packing your lamps in their own boxes. It may seem like you are adding a lot of boxes to your move, but you will be happy that your lamp has made it in one piece. If you have a pole lamp, you can try disassembling it, but your best bet is to put it in a car for the trip to your new house.
– Dressers- We get the most questions about this one. How do you move a dresser? Should you empty the drawers? Dresser drawers do not need to be emptied for a move. All we ask is that you remove anything breakable or valuable from the drawers prior to moving them. If you have a drawer with a lot of little, loose items, place a folded towel in the drawer to secure everything in place. Unless you have an abnormally large piece of furniture, it is not too heavy to move with the clothes inside.
– Large Appliances and Electronics . If you are planning on moving anything which has been installed in your house, ie. a wall mounted television, washer, or dryer; there are some precautions you should take. The first is to make sure you have the appropriate people uninstall all of these items. While our men are good at what they do, they are movers and do not have the background and knowledge needed to uninstall any of these items for you. If you have a gas dryer, please contact the gas company for safety. Also, you want to bundle the cords on these items before the movers arrive. They can easily get stuck and should be taped to the item itself. Please do not attach remote controls to your televisions, place them in a box to avoid them getting lost or dropped.
